Founded in 1947 in Lund, Sweden, The Lutheran World
Federation (LWF) is a global communion of Christian
churches in the Lutheran tradition. LWF has 140 member
churches in 78 countries all over the world, with a
total membership of nearly 66.7 million.
LWF
acts on behalf of its member churches in areas of common
interest such as ecumenical and interfaith relations,
theology, humanitarian assistance, human rights, communication,
and the various aspects of mission and development work.
Its secretariat is located in Geneva, Switzerland.
The
Department for World Service (DWS) is the internationally
recognized humanitarian and development arm of The Lutheran
World Federation that works to give assistance to those
in need, irrespective of their race, sex, religion,
nationality or political conviction.
With field offices in more than 30 countries, LWF/DWS
generates awareness, advocacy, solidarity and action
at the local national and international levels on a
wide range of human rights, humanitarian and development
issues.

Nepal
Programme
The
Lutheran World Federation Nepal is a country
programme of LWF/DWS, which has been working
with marginalized and disadvantaged communities
for the past 23 years in the areas of relief
and rehabilitation, advocacy and networking,
empowerment and organizational development.

its networks that include ecumenical, government
and non-government and community-based partners
within and outside the country.
