Earthquake in Nepal kills 11

At least 16 people died and dozens injured due to the earthquake measuring 6.8 rector scale that shook most of the parts of Nepal at 6.25 pm ( Nepal standard time-+5 hours 45 minutes GMT) on Sunday . The epicentre of the quake was Indo-Nepal border which is 300 kilometer (aerial distance) east from Kathmandu city. According to the National Emergency Operation Centre (NEOC) besides death, 21 sever injuries, 98 simple injuries and total destroy of 103 houses have been reported so far.

ACT Alliance Nepal forum members, LWF Nepal, Inter Church Organization for Development Cooperation (ICCO), Dan Church Aid and Finnish Evangelical Lutheran Mission (FELM) held telephonic meeting to collect information from own networks and local implementing partners in affected districts. Collected information will be shared among the forum members and if needed joint response plan will be developed. According to the National Emergency Operation Centre (EOC), the situation is under control and respective District Disaster Relief Committees (DDRCs) have been mobilized for search, rescue and relief. If the situation demands, ACT Alliance Nepal Forum will meet and develop its emergency response and recovery plan based on ground need. LWF Nepal will coordinate with Government of Nepal, ACT Alliance Nepal Forum members, Association of INGOs in Nepal (AIN), and IASC clusters members in Nepal for rapid needs assessment and will engage in relief and recovery interventions mainly in food, WASH, shelter and education clusters, if needed.
