| Twenty-three
individuals, who attended such classes, say they came to know
about their basic rights and about international rights standards.
These individuals had attended classes run by the Shanti Centre
in Urma-6.
The
landlords of their village used to exploit them in various
ways like giving low wages and not allowing any rest during
work. "This exploitation is not going to continue anymore,"
said a community member.
Similarly,
15 women participants from Kanari village say: “Now
we know what our rights are. We will unite and raise voice
against men who oppress us."
They
discuss human rights issues openly and with confidence these
days.
